Youth Football K-7th
The Shawnee Mission West Football program is proud to partner with KCFC to develop the next generation of Viking athletes.
This partnership provides a premier environment for youth players to learn the fundamental skills, discipline, and teamwork necessary to succeed at the high school level. By joining the KCFC program, young athletes become part of the Viking family early on.
The Full Viking Experience
Youth teams in the KCFC program aren't just local players—they are a part of our Friday Night Lights culture. Participants are invited to join us for signature SMW events, including:
Viking Football Fest: Kick off the season with the high school team.
KCFC Night at the Stadium: Get on the turf and experience the atmosphere of a varsity game day.
Program Details
KCFC offers programs for Kindergarten through 7th grade in both football and cheerleading. Teams are generally organized by high school area, allowing future teammates to build chemistry long before they reach high school.

Focus: Skill development, safety, and sportsmanship.

Future Viking Football Camp
Dates: TBD
Time: 8:30a – 10:00a (SMW turf field)
Eligibility: Grades 3 – 7 (for the 2026-27 school year)
Cost: TBD
Join the Shawnee Mission West Vikings football staff and players for a NON-contact camp, emphasizing football fundamental skills. Campers should wear a t-shirt, shorts, and gym shoes or cleats and bring a water bottle. Participants will be instructed in the fundamentals that the Vikings use in High School. KCFC teams who sign up together will be able to work with each other as part of their pre-season preparation. Group activities and competitions will also take place.
VTC does not retain any registration fees as 100% of the funds collected go directly to the coaches working the summer programs.

Future Viking Weight Training Camp
Eligibility: Grades 6 – 8 (for the 2026-27 school year)

Time: 10:30 – 11:45a (SM West Turf Field)

Shawnee Mission West coaches will develop students in the summertime by giving them a good base of fundamental skills in lifting, conditioning, and other activities. The weight room will revolve around the philosophy that students will follow a specified workout with the total body being developed. The workout will be geared for the athlete involved in any sport. The safety matters: spotting, proper lifting and running techniques, as well as proper training structure are covered with every student that joins us.

Calling all future Viking stars! The Westridge Wildcat Football program is the feeder team for Shawnee Mission West High School football. Our 8th-grade Wildcats provide a fun and competitive environment for young athletes to develop their skills and prepare for the high school level.
